Extinction Event is about punk and anything else I am interested in or come across. It is also an online space for the independent label/ local Halifax distro Ripping Headaches Records that I (attempt to) run, with a partnership on the distro coming from my bud Sammy. Contributions are welcome and wanted. I would consider E.E. to be always under construction, so any tips for improvement or constructive criticisms are certainly welcome.

Zeitgeist: Moving Forward

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Z9WVZddH9w&feature=player_embedded
Amazing documentary. Its long, but its rooted in basic sociological principles that are taken for granted. The fact that the malleable nature of individual human evolution is superseded by biologist and determinist ideas is preposterous but nonetheless the reality of our (he he) society's geist. I'll stop ranting about this and let those who are interested take it in for themselves.

Ripping Headaches Records

Anyone who feels they have something valuable to add to the label, be it skills, time, material support, etc, let me know. There is a good foundation being laid here and with a few more dedicated individuals we could do some great things. No one gets paid aside from occasionally breaking even, but there are intangible and material incentives (such as merch) for helping out. This is a collective effort, but only to the extent that any given person proves not to be a flake. Saying you want to be a part and actually putting in the hard work and time is a different story.

Once again, anyone who is interested, let me know!

Ripping Headaches Records

Just letting everyone know that I have a small, independent punk label/ local Halifax distro called Ripping Headaches. http://www.facebook.com/?tid=1715254214665&sk=messages#!/group.php?gid=240568342359
RH is putting together another release for 2011, and the submission call is out... it is either going to be another compilation of East Coast bands on an undecided format, or a vinyl split of some kind.
We have also started buying wholesale records for distro in Halifax. I will post a close-to-full list of stock once the records come in. We also to tshirts, patches, etc.
cheers

Dead Space 2

I'm on my second time through the game, and its even better this time. Aside from the lame "final boss," DS2 kicks some major ass. The atmosphere is just as good or better than the first one, although nothing can really recreate the feeling of fighting your way through the Ishimura on the first one. Nonetheless, the game has new weapons (some suck, some are welcome additions- decide for yourself) and the great addition of all kinds of new suits. On your second playthrough, you'll find that the elite suits are available for a another whole game worth of new suits to unlock.

Once again, Isaac's sanity is questionable- whether the marker is causing it or he's just perma-fried is left up to the player, adding the token ambiguity to the plot which makes the story horror movie worthy. The necromorphs haven't changed much, with only a few additions, some of which are creepy baby and children variants. Yes, you kill freakish child and baby monsters. I can't say much more about it without spoiling the game for those who haven't had the pleasure of playing it themselves, but it is safe to say that this game is worth the next 60 bucks you choose to blow on a video game.
